Globalizing Standards

School districts, states, and national education organizations have designed standards to be sure students at each level have mastered specific content and important skills. Classroom teachers create lessons that teach to those standards. Therefore, some may ask, how is one supposed to adhere to the original standards and, at the same time, globalize the classroom? Knowing the competencies students should have and the capacities students should practice will help teachers make modifications that accomplish both objectives. Students who are interested in investigating the world, recognizing perspective, communicating ideas, and in getting involved in their world's issues by taking action are students that will be successful as they enter the workforce of the future.
